April Title Banner

Meteor Lake is teeming with life, the sun shining down over countless figures both large and small who have gathered to see the spectacle. The teal water sparkles and waves lap against the shore as creatures swim, fly, and relax. Ringing the lake sits a vast range of mountains jutting into the sky, and dotting the shore sits a tiny town from which boats arrive and depart.

Meteor Lake

"Alright team!" A voice, small but booming, calls out to a ragtag bunch of creatures, one hefting a camera over their shoulder, another bogged down with equipment, and the others scrambling around the Gravent at the center.

Scoop

"I don't want a single mistake! We're finally early to something, and I'm not gonna miss this like I missed the Crooks..." She grumbles, rubbing her chin. She then picks her head back up, "But we got this! Is everyone ready?" She scans the small crowd she has gathered around her.

"Uh, Miss Scoop?" A shaggy Crook holding the camera pipes up, "Where am I s'posed to plug this in?" he asks, lifting the plug to the camera up into her view.

"Just... Plug it into the van or something! I'm sure there's a generator or something around here..." She shrugs with urgency, before spinning on her toes to look back over the lake. Figures have begun to emerge, trudging from the warm waters into the bright sand.

Scoop waves her hand, beckoning the cameramen to follow her to the shore. With little hesitation, she approaches one of them: a tall, humanoid creature just beginning to dry off from his emergence from the lake.

"Hey, you!" She calls out, "Sir! Yes, you!" Scoop smiles, her most charming smile as she shoves a microphone up towards the figure's face. "The people want to know! What-- or perhaps, WHO are you?"

Grimace

"Uh," The figure recoils slightly, "We're following our creator." He grumbles curtly, not particularly interested in being interviewed. "A piece of our creator has been brought to land - we want to investigate."

"Your creator?" Scoop questions, refusing to give up the lead. "And-- And who's we?"

"We are Nautipods." He responds matter-of-factly.

"Nautipods? Do you perhaps have anything to do with the Crook's return?" She asks, but before the figure has a chance to respond, Scoop turns to the camera, her look determined. "You heard it here first folks, the Nautipods are emerging, just like the Crooks did nearly three years ago! There must be some sort of correlation!"

"I... I'm not quite sure what a 'Crook' is..." He mumbles, glancing around as more and more Nautipods continue to emerge behind him. As Scoop continues to ramble to the camera, he glaces over to a set of beings standing not-so-discreetly to the side of the cameraman. He turns his attention back. "My name is uh, Grimace, if that helps. Or Grim. Whichever."

"Excellent! Thank you for your time, Grimace. But don't leave yet, we have more questions coming up!" Scoop hops back and forth on her toes, her own sporadic gaze catching on the CCCat and Crook bickering behind her camera.

"Erion, they GOTTA be an aquatic race that formed in Meteor Lake without us even knowin'!" The Crook pushes their glasses up on his nose.

"That's absurd, Schooner, undoubtedly they must have come from space. You do know how the lake even formed, don't you?" The CCCat mutters back.

"You two!" Scoop points her microphone in their direction as the camera swings over to them, and both turn with their eyes wide. "What do you know about the current event unfolding in front of us?" The two continue to stare for a moment before the CCCat straightens up and the Crook follows suit.

"As a matter o' fact, we were here to do some research ourselves," the Crook, Schooner, begins, "This guy's got his smarty pants on thinkin' these guys are from tha MOON of all places. I think these guys have been here the whole time right under our snouts."

Schooner

"I know they're from the moon - Ofae has an incredibly close history with Skire. They're practically siblings if you think about it!"

Erion

Schooner turns to Scoop, squinting their eyes just a little bit. "What exactly are you doin' here? Are you just a reporter?" They question.

"Of course she is, you dolt. She's a Gravent, they're known for being messengers across Skire. It's typical that they pop up wherever there's a new story or when big things occur. I'm sure if you spent any time looking upward..." Erion sighs, rolling his eye.

"Well, EXCUUUUSE me, pal. I got my head lookin' for tha mysteries of tha water, what do you expect from me, huh?" Schooner sneers.

"Yeah, I've been working my entire life for a scoop like this, though not all of us feel our path is with reporting. But I know I wanna make sure that my message gets to as many people as possible!" Scoop tosses out a thumbs up and winks at the camera.

Grim, standing awkwardly behind the quickly conversing group pokes his head in once again, intrigued by the two odd figures. "Do you two happen to know anything about our creator, Ofae? Where have they taken it, the piece?"

"Oh!" Erion and Schooner pipe up at the same time, both shooting the other a suspicious glance. Erion puffs out his chest and continues, "A Crook by the name of Myir went to Ofae and brought back a piece."

"Huh... The last time we heard anything of Ofae, they had been greatly damaged. Do you know if it is functioning?"

"We don't." Erion shrugs his shoulders.

"We were sent here to help this land you call Skire, and we've been residing in the depths for some time. As far as we knew, everything was headed towards Ofae's intended outcome, but we did not expect interference from the outside." Grim explains, eyebrows knit and face downturned into a grimace.

"So does that mean you're an alien race?" Erion's ears perk, and his crowns fan atop his head.

"We originate from Ofae, but we have been living here quite some time already."

Scoop pipes up, grabbing the camera and tilting it back into view of her as she shoves the microphone back into Grim's face. "So, you're not only ANCESTORS, but you're ALIEN ANCESTORS?!" She exclaims, eyes sparkling.

"We aren't really ancestors or anything, we've been tending to Ofae's Sacrifice," He corrects, before turning his attention back to the pair of scientists. "Do you think you can lead us safely to where Ofae resides? We do not know Skire's land well."

Scoop pops her head back into the frame, "Of course we can! We'll gladly show you around - you can stay as long as you like! You're part of Skire as much as we are, so let's get you to Uto!" She shoots another wink at the camera, flashing her confident smile to the viewers at home.

Uto

Main Prompts:

PROMPT #1: Travel with the Nautipods - Guide them safely to Uto! Species all around Skire come to welcome the newcomers and show them to Uto, and help them feel accepted. They make small talk and rumors spread about an alien species coming from Ofae - their abilities, purpose, and their reason for hiding for so long. They come from the depths of Meteor Lake, but is there truly a piece of Ofae down there?

Draw your Skire character or an NPC walking with and chatting with the Nautipods and/or Grim as they come to the surface! There's so much to investigate on the beach, and many new faces to meet and discover. Please remember not to create any new Nautipod characters for this design, and only use existing Nautipods with permission. If you would like, just draw the NPC Nautipod, Grim.

-----

PROMPT #2: News at 11! - Broken Moon cited as the origin of Skire. Are there more Nautis on the moon? Is it living despite it being shattered? Is there more left to discover out there in space?

Draw your Skire character or an NPC investigating space-like items such as asteroids, or studying space with a telescope.

-----

PROMPT #3: Explore the Waters - Meteor Lake is buzzing with activity! Gravents have flocked to the scene, along with CCCats, Crooks, and humans alike. Gravents take flight across Skire to spread the news, and scientists and citizens alike take part in combing the beach for further clues.

Draw your Skire character or an NPC diving, interacting with aquatic life, combing the beach, and more! Alternatively, they may be helping a Gravent get some news off the ground.

Meteor Lake

Meteor Lake is a beachy city with technologic and magic airships or sail ships, and on one side, plains meet rocks and lake inside a giant mountainscape. Floating mountains exist high above the lake, with crystals protruding from the outside, large windmills and cities exist on the top of the floating islands. A deep hidden technologic city glows from within the mountain, surrounded by crystals.

Uto

Uto is a more utopian styled scifi area, that is pristine with high-age tech in its higher tiers. The lower areas of the city are large and clustered. One giant center piece space station hooks up to Halo's Pierce. Ofae's chunk resides in the level of Uto known as Key, the highest level, embedded into the very core of the city that holds all three levels together from the very bottom. Magical veins can be seen going through the city's core.
